Why Salt-First?

That’s the question I feel will be asked a lot from day dot (tomorrow as I write this) all the way to the product being a seasoned veteran. Pardon the pun.

Honestly, the answer is quite simple. The cocktail culture globally is shifting away from the dive-bar and more towards the culinary, yet I don’t want that to mean we take cocktails and make them even more inaccessible due to either higher costs or technique that can’t be replicated in every venue or home. Probably the easiest way to get the greatest improvements in your cocktails, aside from very fresh ingredients, is to add saline solution to your drinks. 3-4 drops of a 20% mix will bring life to the flavours within the cocktail. Base spirits sing, syrups and liqueurs rejoice and the entire cocktail starts looking like a team rather than a set of individual players. I like this.

With that in mind, I wanted to create a product that took the saline solution out of your hands, and placed it into a product that you’d normally see on the bar. The oldest supporting player in the industry. Bitters.

That’s why all of the range we create within HAUS Bitters will be ‘Salt-First’, we tailor each and every batch to ensure when 3 Drips (we’re redefining ‘The Drip’ if you’ve not heard) are added to a cocktail you get the balancing salt to elevate the base ingredients, as well as a complimentary flavour profile. Obviously, all of our bitters have a very specific mix of natural bittering agents too, from Angelica Root to Quassia Bark, so you get seasoning, bitterness, and in our flagship product both spice and umami.

We’re lucky to be backed and supported by the Digital Agency, SpeakEasier HAUS, so we can afford to make a lower profit margin on these bitters and pack them with a botanical load that rivals Angostura, a feat most can’t match and why I’m so confident our bitters will be like nothing you’ve ever tried.

We’re Salt-First because it makes sense to us. In a few Drips I think it’ll make sense to you too.
